Summer!

Since it's summer, I'll try to post a little more.  The kids are growing and changing so fast! Charlotte is almost 6 months old and in a few months Anderson will be 3!

James and I went to Portland while my wonderful parents stayed with Anderson and Charlotte. It was a wonderful weekend and the best part was having no responsibilities for a few days! Other than the half marathon, we traveled along the Columbia River and went to a few wineries/breweries.  It was great!

This summer will be full of playing outside, play dates, camping (we'll see how the first trip goes), staying up in the mountains, company, gymnastics and music class for Anderson, and just enjoying a little leisure.  Anderson's favorite thing is to get up in the morning and watch a little t.v. with his pajamas still on. It's nice to not be in a rush in the mornings.

Beautiful!

Perfect day for a hike.

Easter

It has been such a wonderful weekend.  James and I both feel like the best weekend we've had since Charlotte came home from the hospital in December.  Things are so much easier now and we really loved celebrating Easter with our sweet kids.  On Friday night we started our weekend with a night out at a wine bar.  It was nice to see James after he got home from work travel on Thursday.  On Saturday we got up early and went to an Easter egg hunt (it literally lasted 30 seconds) and to ride the Bunny Train at the CO train museum.  Anderson loved it and loved the Easter Bunny.  He thoroughly enjoyed the candy in his eggs.  Boy does he have a sweet tooth.  We don't have sweets often but when we do he begs and begs for them.  Saturday night we enjoyed some BBQ and relaxed.  On Sunday we went to church, played outside, and went to our friends' house for Easter dinner.  In between all the fun, we also found time for cleaning, working in the yard, runs, and bike rides.  With two kids, we have found that you almost have to utilize every spare minute to accomplish things around the house and stay in shape. I keep seeing fun Pinterest items that people have made and now I need to find time to make some fun things. That's next on my list.

I'm going to squeeze in a few pics from our spring break trip to Houston too..

Yay, an airplane. Anderson got his own seat!

The Last Month

I seriously can't believe it's been a whole month since I last posted! We now have a 2 1/2 year old and 3 month old.  It's just crazy how time flies when you are so busy.  Anderson is now enjoying being a big brother.  Really, this means that he isn't constantly trying to hit Charlotte and he occasionally pays attention to her.  He talks constantly and loves to sing his favorite songs.  He makes us laugh all the time. Charlotte is now rolling over and laughing! Her smiles are infectious and she is the sweetest little thing.  We feel so lucky to have our two kids.

We just returned from a short weekend in San Antonio for spring break and now we get to enjoy the rest of the week doing fun things around Denver. Travel with our two kids was so much better than anticipated! The kids were great on both flights and for the most part, slept very well.  Our vacations are definitely different now.  We used to spend so much time researching restaurants, etc. when it was just the two of us.  We really packed our vacations full of stuff.  Now, we try to find quicker places to eat and really enjoy the small moments with our kids.  I'll do another post with vacation pictures but wanted to update the last month first.

Enjoying our kids

Life has been so busy, but definitely good! I can actually say that after 11 weeks things are going great.  We are all on a routine and Anderson has been so much better.  He's been saying the funniest things and is trying to help with his baby sister.  She loves to watch him!

Here's a couple snippets of conversations with him lately:

Me: "Are you excited to go to the aquarium to see sharks?" Anderson: "Sharks have sharp teeth.  Bite, ouch!"

After I had an accident with our garage (I'm not going to discuss further)  Anderson:  "Oh no, crash.  Garage broke.  Daddy fix."

When we were driving one day and he saw the mountains, Anderson said, "Snow mountains, want to hike."

He's also been pretending that there's a bear after him (from the book Going on a Bear Hunt).

Besides taking care of kids, I've started training for the Portland half marathon that is in May.  I'm up to 7 miles and I'm glad I have some motivation because I want to lose the rest of the baby weight plus a few more pounds.  My friend Tresa wants me to do one in April, but we'll see how in shape I feel. I wish that I could snap my fingers and be in shape again! It's definitely more of a challenge to find the time for long runs but James is so good about giving me time for running.  :)

Enjoying the Denver Museum of Nature and Science on President's Day.
